Frequently asked questions:

What are FAQs? FAQs stand for frequently asked questions. If you surf some of the web sites on our wedding resource page, you will come across several pages devoted to answering FAQs.
What is a bookmark?

A bookmark is an option that your browser gives you to save the address of a web page. After adding the site to your bookmark, you can easily return to that site in the future via the bookmark. Netscape 4 has a button on the upper left portion of your screen marked "Bookmarks" and the Internet Explorer 4 has a button on the upper middle portion of the menu bar marked "Favorites". Other bowers will have a variation of the above.

What is a 3-chip camera?

A CCD (charge-coupled device) chip is a miniature electronic circuit consisting of thousand of transistors. In a 1-chip camera, one chip has to process all the colors of the incoming image. In a 3-chip camera, there is a separate chip devoted to processing each of the primary colors. 3-chip cameras cost more and perform better. You will get much cleaner images and better colors with the 3-chip camera. There is a wide range of prices and quality in 3-chip cameras. Beware that many companies use a much cheaper second camera in a multi-cameras shoot. A big difference in the quality of the acquisition cameras will cause a jarring effect when watching the fully edited tape.

What is a nonlinear editing system?

Prior to today's digital technology, all editing systems were linear (i.e. edited using tape decks.) In the linear editing system, the editing must be done sequentially from the front to the back . It is difficult to make changes to a previously edited portion of the tape. The current trend is to do editing on digital nonlinear editing systems. The advantage of a nonlinear editing system is the ability it gives the editor to access any portion of the video instantaneously on the computer's hard disks. This makes it easier to fine tune the sequences to add dazzling special effects or to get a soft romantic mood.

What is the Nexus Video vendor referral program?

Nexus Video Production has a unique vendor referral program. Details of this referral program will be explained to you at your initial appointment. Essentially it allow you to get up to twenty free copies of your wedding recap by providing us with information on vendors you used for your wedding. These wedding recaps make excellent thank you gifts for your bridal party. Some restrictions apply.
How many tapes will I receive? The number of tapes you receive are specified in the prepackaged programs. However, if your program includes a wedding recap, we also place it on a separate tape for your convenience. So if your program includes a recap, you will twice the number specified (e.g. 3 full versions and 3 recaps).
How much will extra copies of the wedding tapes cost me? Additional copies of your wedding tape are provided at our regular duplication rate . For example, if you order one extra copy of a tape that is almost two hours long, it would cost you $17. However, if you ordered 10 copies of the same tape, it would only cost you only $9 per copy. Duplication of shorter tapes cost even less at our duplication rate.
Will you book more than one wedding for my wedding date? No. When you hire Nexus Video Production, you are guaranteed that the person you are talking to will be at your wedding. If you book with one of our competitors, you may find that they may have several other weddings to worry about on your wedding day! Booking more than one wedding a day means hiring additional subcontractors whose work may not be up to our high standards, or scheduling the same videographers to go from one wedding to the next. After careful considerations, we decided that our integrity and fairness to our customers were more important than profit.
Will you attend my rehearsal? Yes. Even if Nexus Video has shot at the same church before, we find that church policies change and that the wedding coordinator has a way of trying to make your ceremony unique. Surprises are the event videographer's worst enemy!
Can you hold my wedding date until...? No. Nexus Video has a strict policy against holding a wedding date for an unsigned customer under any circumstances.
Why hire Nexus Video to do our wedding video? In Nexus Video's dedication to quality, we do things a lot differently then our competitors. Nexus Video hires only first-rate video professionals who have exceptional talent and have high-end equipment even if it means we have to pay more. Also, we spend much more time editing than our competitors. It takes both talent and a lot of editing time to get your wedding day video to flow smoothly and to have just that right mood. Take a look at samples of our wedding tapes and compare them with out competitors. You will be able to see the difference.
Can you place a few pictures from my wedding on your web site? Nexus Video is starting a new policy whereby couples who book a wedding with Nexus Video on their first appointment will get three stills from their wedding posted for free on this web site. These stills will remain on this site until at least one month after the delivery of the wedding tapes. Do your research first, then book an appointment with us when you are ready to make your decision. You'll be glad you did.
What is the Wedding White Book? Nexus Video is proud of its qualifications and accomplishments. We have accumulated information about our wedding services, equipment, business license, insurance, degrees and awards, professional organizations, and most importantly the customer's feedback rating our performance into a 3-hole binder. For lack of a better idea, we called it the "Wedding White Book" simply because the 3-hole binder is white. Maybe someday we will have a "name that book" contest to come up with a better name! By the way, the Wedding White Book also contains vendor referral information collected from previous customers.
Will my wedding video resemble those of the rich and famous? Nexus Video Production does specialize in producing opulent high-end wedding videos. You can judge for yourself how close we can come to producing your dream wedding video by requesting a demo tape by e-mail. Please include your wedding date, mail address and contact telephone number with the request. In the interest of recycling, we request that the demo tape be returned to Nexus Video after you have viewed the tape.
Has Nexus Video received any awards? Yes, we have received several awards. Most recently, in 1999, we won a first place trophy in the Producer's Choice Competition (advanced wedding category) from Video Data Services, the National Video Taping Service.
Can you add my question here? Send us an e-mail with your question. Even if we do not add the answer to the FAQ page, we will contact you to give you the information requested.
